Welcome to Caithness Motocross Club

Caithness Motocross Club (CMXC) was formed in the early seventies and is the most northerly motocross club in the British mainland. Its evolution over the years has meant it can cater for both motocross and quad riders. In the past the club would meet at different venues throughout Caithness and Sutherland to enable riders to compete over varying types of terrain and annual visits to the Orkney Islands used to allow for inter club championships. The highlight of the clubs history must be when it held a Scottish Schoolboy Championship race in the mid eighties at the excellent motocross track just south of Brora. This was a major scoop for such a small club!

Currently the club is aiming to offer a permanent venue for practicing and racing on throughout the year and with the amount of effort input over the years we believe this is achievable.

The clubs primary objective today is to safely promote the off-road sport of Motocross to all ages. This comes under the guidance of the governing body of motorcycle sport in Scotland, Scottish Auto Cycle Union (SACU), to which we are affiliated.

Important Message To All Club Members

Due to insurance and liability issues the committee are considering stopping practice sessions on the track at Ravenshill. This would result in the club no longer running the normal weekday and weekend practices and would only run practices where an SACU practice permit had been obtained. These practice events must be run in the same way as a club round i.e. officials, marshalls, first aid personnel are all required. The club would still have it’s 6 championship rounds, for which you must be a club member to gain points towards the end of year presentation. This is an issue that effects all club members and the committee need your thoughts and feedback on this. If any club member has any suggestions, questions or possible solutions please contact Michelle on 01847 821775 (after 6pm) or email michellem@talktalk.net or you can bring your suggestions to the committee at the clubs 1st championship round on Sunday 4th April.
